At the club, the four women argued about whether to go home or go out to eat. Martinez drove away without the three other women, but with their purses in her car, according to the arrest warrant affidavit. The three women got a ride from someone at the club and pulled into a nearby Exxon gas station where they saw Martinez’s car.
Two cousins, including Aguilar, approached Martinez’s car to retrieve their purses from the trunk. When Martinez asked them if they would help pay for the gas and they said no, she put the car in reverse and backed into Aguilar. She then drove forward, running over her a second time, before driving away.
Aguilar’s mother called Martinez and persuaded her to go to the hospital, where she was arrested by police, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
